Voodudes Development Notes
When students are enrolled into Guildhall, they are all considered to be in a Cohort. These Cohorts go through Guildhall's program taking classes together and working on Team Game Productions or TGPs. During TGP students learn about SCRUM, milestones, core hours and working across departments to make a game. When a Cohort reaches its senior year they start working on their graduating game project, which is also known as their capstone game.
Guildhall's capstone games are the final team projects where students from the senior Cohort apply all of their obtained knowledge and skill to create an original game. For my capstone game I worked with 14 other developers on the project Voodudes. The team of Voodudes, known as Zombears, dedicated themselves to making a fun high quality game in 4 months.
The leads of Voodudes did a great job managing team members within their own department and did a phenomenal job working between departments. Likewise all of the workers under each lead put forth their best efforts to produce quality work for the game. When the 4 month development time came to an end, we proudly showed the game off to our professors, friends, families and peers.
Surprisingly Voodudes developed an immense wave of positive feedback that went beyond the influences of our team and Guildhall. We were all greatly honored when our game was presented at the Intel booth during the 2013 Game Developers Conference in San Fransisco.
The Game Voodudes
Voodudes has an assortment of fun features for players to enjoy as they runs through a fantasy world of 1920s New Orleans. Players can buy and equip various skins and accessories to Virgil from Mama Mambos shop. The 6 distinct combat abilities allows players to employ various gameplay strategies to defeat different kinds of enemies.
Each of the 6 uniquely designed levels has challenging enemy encounters, fun level hazards and a boss fight. Players can explore the environments in search of hidden Loa pickups or fun little level secrets. It is easy to stop and admire the beautiful art and lighting that gives Voodudes its atmosphere. Several awesome musical soundtracks and many audio cues helps bring the game to life.

Every team member worked their hardest to make the game with the highest quality possible. This project has given me a greater insight into making digital games and the collaborative team effort needed to complete them.
