Color Science Development Notes
When students are enrolled into Guildhall, they are all considered to be in a Cohort. These Cohorts go through Guildhall's program taking classes together and working on Team Game Productions or TGPs. During TGP students learn about SCRUM, milestones, core hours and working across departments to make a game.
In Color Science players controlled an amateur scientist who is must escape from a hazardous chemical color lab. The main character, named Bradley Wilson, has the ability to change his color to red, blue or yellow which allows him to pass through any object of the same color. This color/collision changing mechanic was the main showcasing feature of Color Science.
Most of the design decision on this game was made to utilize the main game mechanic in new and interesting ways. Making a vertical maze out of colored walls or forcing the player to change colors in midair were just some of the design decisions that made Color Science fun. I worked closely with an artist and programmer to implement other features like sounds, hazards, a heads up display and pick up items.
